Jan Sherman
~ JULY 31, 2020~
Jan Sherman is a much beloved, respected First Nations teller, an Anishinaabe woman, mother, culture keeper, storyteller, drummer, singer, teacher, volunteer, and spiritual guide. Through Jan's thoughtful, captivating storytelling, we learn to appreciate and honour Indigenous ancestral earth teachings and we learn, not only about those ancients who were once here, but those who are still here. For over 20 years Jan has given voice as a First Nations culture keeper, sharing stories not only locally, but globally as well. Here in Guelph she is frequently seen at opening ceremonies providing the traditional welcome and territorial acknowledgement. Jan visits classrooms to share traditional Anishnaabe worldview with both school Boards, and acts as a support for the Aboriginal Resource Centre at the University of Guelph. We are grateful to Jan for her continued participation in GGS events.
